Scout4x4 Driver Training

With several members now qualified to City & Guilds standards we can use the knowledge to help train other members and scouters to a high standard.

We run a couple of training weekends a year which we combine with a play weekend at an off road centre we hire for the weekend. This is a great arena to test vehicles and demonstrate to drivers how to operate them safely and effectively. Its not all about the driving either as you can see form the list below which is just some of the things we cover.

  • Vehicle Checks and basic maintenance
  • Basic off road driving techniques
  • Hill Ascent / Desent with failed hill climbs
  • Wading
  • Risk Assessment
  • Terrain Assessment
  • Maps & Route Planning
  • GPS Technology
  • Vehicle Recovery and towing
  • Use of winches & techniques
  • Environmental impact

This is just a small list of the things we can help you with.

If you think we can help then please get in touch and we can come and assist you with learning and driving safely. We are working with a couple of campsites to assist with writing driving policy and to help train their service crews to use the site vehicles correctly.
